After a week spent at a friend's sea-side cottage soaking in silence, beautiful light, wildlife, and water, T&F is officially on holiday until the spring.

In the meantime, the shop has sold out of tweed wallets, and the last of this run of Louisa bags have been shipped off to their new homes.

Until then- have a wonderful end of the winter of 2008 and may 2009 be so lovely.

After this photo shoot earlier today, another Louisa Bag is in the shop, and the Upcycled Brown Tweed Peony Wallet is wrapped up to be sent to the Mid-West, following the Blue Wool Wallet which went to the post en route to the California coast this morning. Oh, brown paper packages, just in time for the holidays.

Also: I adore that boat in the background. Sigh.

Two new wallets are in the shop on their way to new homes.
Made from the same herringbone tweed suit. Lined in new cottons. Secured with Velcro closures. Perfect to wrap up and give.

Just a short update and some pictures to tell you where things are.

Two new upcycled wallets are in the shop, made of a lovely brown tweed suit, as well as one burgundy Louisa bag. Between catching up with good friends, taking in the salty air, and trying to save an old banjo, T&F has been somewhat productive. The remainder of this batch of new wallets will be listed in the next few days, as they're finished.

I hope you've had a fantastic (American) Thanksgiving. I hope you're well.

Photos and news:

BC has been chilly but gorgeous and the division of my time evenly between sewing and the sea has thus far been unbalanced- still, I've managed to list a couple of Louisa Bags in the shop. There's just enough burgundy duck cloth for a total of five four three two one more to be claimed between now and Christmas, as well as the possibility of one in brown, so make sure you keep an eye on the shop or let me know if you're hoping to find one in the post before the holidays!

More soon.

Hello! Chicago was incredible, and we've arrived in BC. Sewing to take place soon and a shop update in the next couple of weeks with new bags for Christmas! In the meantime, some photos of Grant Park on election night.

More to come. (Some with relevance, even.)

Between intermittent snow flurries and power outages, the prettiest leaves all fallen from their branches, the weather here seems to have firmly shifted to Winter. In the spirit of such transition, we're packing up around here for a trip West, to the coast. Our car fills with good music, snacks, and two kitties at the end of the week as we make our way, with a few detours (first to Chicago to witness Obama make history on Tuesday night). I am very excited. For many things.

I will update the T&F blog intermittently with some tasty photos of the sea, but as far as relevance goes, T&F can be officially considered to be in semi-vacation mode, save for a good pre-Christmas-shop update to come in Mid-November. In the meantime, here's a reminder to vote on Tuesday, and a promise to return in the spring.

The world's biggest sandwich was devoured today, and a few handfuls of thousands of miles away I stitched up new bags for the shop.

Introducing The Louisa Bag. You can check her out here.

Barring complete distraction, I'll be listing more over the next week; stay tuned.

I've been working on a new design today, between breaks for coffee and the cookies my grandmother sent me home with this weekend. I not only now have my hands on three gorgeous new (old) suits, but was also lucky enough to happen upon a good amount of duck cloth on the drive home Monday afternoon, which is fueling the fun. You can find the new bags in the shop this weekend!

And now, I'm off to walk to the polling station with D where he will cast his ballot into the cute little cardboard boxes (!) that this country still uses for their elections. I predict more coffee and cookies as we listen to the results roll in. I also predict much finger-crossing.

The before mentioned Etsy article is up. Linky!

Wednesday, October 8, 2008

Etsy has asked me to write an article on the use of vintage suits in my work- a fun bit of homework! I'll let you know when a publish date is set; in the meantime, it's prompted me to resolve to end a bit of the neglect on the Thistledown & Finch blog-front. Eventually, there will be a free-standing website dedicated to T&F, until then, we'll be living here.

Begin.

Welcome to Thistledown & Finch. Some pretty words D said in the car the other night.
That's what we're calling it from here on out.
